The stop light switch is a mechanical and electrical switching device used to control operation of vehicle stop lights. A secondary function of the switch may be to disengage the cruise control when the brake pedal is applied. A faulty stop light switch may cause the stop lights to be inoperable, or alternatively remain permanently on. The stop light switch must be compatible vehicle brake and electrical systems, always refer to the vehicle application list to ensure correct part number selection.
