A Protorque Timing Belt drives the crankshaft and synchronizes the camshaft to the crankshaft position, this allows the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves being at the proper timing in relation to the position of the engine pistons.

Timing belts must be replaced as per the maintenance intervals specified by vehicle manufacturers, or immediately seen with cracks, wears or other damage.
